The History of the Thai Golf Association of Texas

In 1981, a group of four Thai individuals from Dallas invited another group of four Thai individuals from Houston to play golf together at Tension Park Golf Course in Dallas, Texas. The purpose was to showcase their golfing skills, foster camaraderie, and establish an annual gathering. A trophy was introduced as a token of recognition and remembrance.

Since then, the tournament has been held annually without interruption. Over the next 4–5 years, more Thai golfers from across Texas began to join, and participation steadily increased each year.

Approximately ten years later, a team from Austin joined the competition. From that point on, the tournament adopted a team-based format, with the Best 4 Low Net scores determining the annual winner of the Memorial Day Golf Tournament trophy.

By 2004, the tournament had grown significantly, with a record participation of 120 golfers. The tradition has continued every year since, becoming a prominent and cherished annual event for the Thai golfing community in Texas.
